Hi. Irish Mom here. Of course still neck deep in doing house projects. Right now the kids are helping out checking the consistency of thin set. I Think the find the smell attractive because there are a lot of attempts at taste testing the thin set. Yes, in the middle of a tile job, prep etc. I keep telling myself pace will pick up when I get into carpentry, paneling and flooring restoration which are really my areas of competency. I can do tile , it's just I've never cared for projects involving gypsum, much as the kids like it. I actually enjoy metal work in comparison. Try to update photos soon there actually may be some visible progress that's photogenic. Also I have the deadline of at least getting my 'orchard' in. Thank goodness that I'm just planning semi dwarf trees around the kitchen garden this year. Should supply nice view from the porch of the quilt shed. Wishing you a busy but not hectic spring.
Bo here. Yeah, Mom's busy but I notice that hasn't kept her from finding the stripping comb. I also caught her pulling out the grooming box and cleaning and sharpening those clipper blades. It's not that warm yet, well it is nice enough I'm keeping watch outside til later than before, the new grass stays nice and warm, so I make sure all the cats are getting in at night. Meeting a few new residents in the neighborhood, the bitch across the way is in heat and getting a lot of new visitors passing by. I do like the new pup they have, a cute 3 month old bull terrier who is a fearless little thing.

Busy Times
Irish Mom here. have to apologize for lack of entries. Finishing up the remodel of bathroom and the terriers have been paying the price. Main carpentry is done, plumber still has to finish install of sink and I have to finish tiling in the shower. The dogs miss the daily influx of testosterone that the carpenters brought, but the only work left for someone else to do is finishing up the electric. I get to do all the finish work and still haven't made final decision for the floors in living and bedrooms. So , I forsee at least another 2 months of work ahead (not counting painting and finishing quilt shed) I have promised myself the fruit trees will at least be planted, even if getting my full kitchen garden in (with corn field) may turn out to be an over extension of my time, BECAUSE I HAVE PROMISED MYSELF QUILTING TIME BY EARLY SUMMER. Yes, I am undergoing quilt withdrawal. Hope to include new pics next time with update of house and pups. Take care. I hope the drought ends.

2nd Snow A Different Matter
Hi folks, 2nd snow hit Wed. nite [1/16/08] followed by what they call a freezing rain. It's a little disconcerting to have the snow crack around your paws, took awhile to get used to, but then no biggie, even better to run in. Don't know what it is with people, a lot of them stayed home today. Things seem very quiet even after the snow started to melt later in the day. Must be like mom who is curled up with a book and hot chocolate she won't share. I noticed the wood boys [sic;carpenters. I.M.] didn't stay very long today. They said something about sledding[?] today. The pipe men didn't show either. Book or sled, what's the attraction? Snow now that can be a great thing! Love, Caity.
P.S. from BO: This little irish gets it wrong the first time. It's not the way this snow felt, it's the way it smells. IT DOESN"T! I wasn't sure what it was, no matter what mom said. It traps all the smells underneath until you crack thruogh the crust and then it's glorious. Mom said we'd been out long enough [not that late or cold] so I'll make a good burrow in her quilts.
rebuttal from Irish Mom, Those two, huh! they wouldn't go out for anything last night before bed and it was just snowing then. This a.m. they stayed on the porch until I went to the front gate and called them. Okay, it was different but I thought they were more adaptable than that. Irish are usually not remarked for their caution. Of course now they act like old hands, and I appreciate no accidents or loss of their housebreaking, but really they must have cast iron bladders and bowels. Now of course they're acting like kids, insisting they're not cold, and can't we have 5 more minutes. Kids, I love ém.

Two Up, One down
BO, Jimbo here. Originally my name was James of Mullaghaboy, then mom adopted me at age 7 months. She evolved my name to Bo as she has a brother named Jim, so to avoid confusion we agreed on Bo. Okay by me. We brought in Caitlan (caity) of Mullaghaboy when I was a year old. She was a cute little thing who has developed into an outstanding terrier bitch (in every sense of the word). She's trim and a proper fit size for an Irish though I'm a sport who would give an Airedale a run for size. Let them claim to be King of Terriers being the prince suits me fine. Caity likes it because she's taken as being much younger than she is (oh vanity, thy name is Cait). Interesting times in paw. Mom's having the bathroom done right now. Loads of new material piled all over, though no floors are opened like in the kitchen. Too bad I enjoyed the subterranian view. Old house hold a lot of history in their aromas ( I say aromas cause mom pointed out that people add 'bad' to smell automatically) I never met a smell I didn't find interesting. Mom's shifting alot of stuff around again so I've had to give up my choice nap spots for the moment. I know things will settle down again and I can restore my high level of observation. I wish she would start quilting again, she's much easier to keep track of. All in all enjoying the rain (even the thunder) must say there's more variety in a day than in the desert or LA.
Caity: Hi! I'm fine! ggotta go, new dog across the street to keep tabs on!!
Note from Irish Mom: You two are so different when we miss out on our a.m. walk. I hope you enjoyed the cable guy, I'm not sure about his pleasure levels.

Hi. Newcomer to blogging & Appalachia
We are Caity and Bo, 2 wild and normally crazy Irish Terriers from LA. Mom packed us up and we traveled to her new home in Waynesville, NC. LA was fine and NV(a 6 month layover) too damned hot and bright and we arrived in fall in the Appalachias. It was great to get some water in the air, the smelling is fine. Lot's of action going on as mom is working on the house and all kinds of new people to check out. ( And dogs and cats and that mysterious something that smells wild just the other side of the fence.) The best surprise of all was the snow. We had some stick on new years night and finally understand what mom was waiting for. Now if I only understood what she means by canoeing and spring. Plumber to greet see ya.
Note from BO: Sister did not like the desert, did nothing but complain about the raccoon eyes she got from desert sun. The sand was too hot fo her soft feet and she never understood about jackrabbits. I'm keeping my eye on things, as usual, so Cait can bluster around acting brave.(she is only when I'm around, guess who always has to sleep with mom?) Situational report is positive but I'll be glad of some hiking time when it comes.
